SOUNDS OF SILENCE
Sounds of Silence
Photographs from the Robinson Collection
June 26 - July 25
Opening Friday June 25, 6pm
Curator Dr Ellie Ray
The Robinson Collection consists of thousands of negatives made by the Robinson family from 1926 up to the 1980’s and forms a part of the Permanent Collection. Bert Robinson and his son Albert created both studio portraiture and outdoor photographs. Director Ellie Ray has selected negatives from the Collection that reflect the diverse array of performing artists and performances and those with a sense of performance that photography is capable of representing. The photographs, by Bert and Albert Robinson, within the NW region are presented in a way that reflects upon photographic practice both past and present. Prints have been made from the negatives for the exhibition and will add to the Permanent Collection’s photographic archives.
