Monster Mash: Mixed Media Works by Shannon Field
Emerging artist Shannon Field investigated contemporary Australian identity through humour, horror and the grotesque. The exhibitionexplored the relationship between Australia’s convict heritage and the performance of contemporary Australian masculinity. By overlapping Australia’s convict past with its gendered present, Field represented some of the contradictions, conflicts and desires that operate around questions of history, memory and identity.
