Van Wonderland was an exhibition of works by contemporary crafts practitioners exploring a mysterious world of not-quite-real objects and creatures based upon historic western perceptions of Tasmania – Van Diemen’s Land – as a distant and little-known island at the far reaches of the globe.
An exhibition of large handmade, paper - based wall hangings, the work is an expression of the artist’s research into the cultural and heritage values associated with mourning. The beautifully crafted pieces, some with hand painted surfaces reference iconic fabric shapes that are associated with traditional women’s wrapped forms.
Reflected Memories was a solo exhibition of black and white photographs by emerging artist Andrew Worsley. The photographic work represents views of high rise buildings that connect in an abstract way to the artists distant, yet close, family ties.
